For 2017 entry, Cardiff Met will be offering an in-house equivalency exam for GCSE English Language and Maths. The tests are designed to meet the GCSE B grade requirements for entry into Cardiff Met ITE programmes only. To be eligible to sit the exams, applicants need have received an offer and replied, or intend to reply, 'Firm'. There is no fee attached to the equivalency exams and applicants are permitted to sit one retake, in each exam, during the year in which they apply.
At present, there are three dates that have been organised for both English Language and Maths exams to be taken at our Cyncoed campus. The dates have been confirmed as below:
For English tests:
Applicants are asked to arrive at our Cyncoed campus (CF23 6BN) for 12pm, ready for a 12.30pm exam start time. You will need to report to main reception on arrival. The exam is 90 minutes and further information on the content and preparation guidance can be viewed here.
For Maths tests:
Applicants are asked to arrive at our Cyncoed campus (CF23 6BN) for 2pm, ready for a 2.30pm exam start time. You will need to report to main reception on arrival. The exam is 90 minutes and further information on the content and preparation guidance can be viewed here.
Applicants with a declared learning need will be allowed 15 minutes extra time for each test, evidence will need to be provided on the day.
Photographic ID, e.g. passport or driving license, will need to be provided on the day. Applicants will not be permitted to sit the test if this is not shown.
Applicants will be informed by Admissions of their achievement within 7 working days, via email.
