First class accountancy career for Carys
Choosing a career can often be a difficult decision, but for Carys Davies, accountancy was always top of her list.
While studying at school for an A level in accountancy as well as in
Maths and business studies, Carys decided to get some work experience
with an accountancy firm before applying to university.
Carys said: “I already knew I enjoyed studying accountancy and my work experience placement confirmed it was definitely the career for me.”
She continued: “I applied and was accepted for the BA in Accounting at Cardiff Met, which is accredited by the ACCA, the global body for professional accountants.
“The accreditation of the course appealed to me, particularly as it
meant I would be exempt from taking nine of the further professional
ACCA exams once I graduated, whereas many courses only leave you with

“The course itself was great. It’s mainly exam-based and quite
rigorous, but that prepares you for working in the profession after
graduation. I also felt I was given plenty of one-to-one support and
feedback from tutors on the course which was really helpful.”
After graduating from Cardiff Met with a first class honours degree,
