​I live in a Communities First area but my postcode isn’t listed in the checker, can I apply for the award?

Please send details of your postcode to the Scholarship Co-ordinator at scholarship@cardiffmet.ac.uk. Your location will be individually reviewed.

I am already studying at Cardiff Met, can I apply for a Study First Award?

No, unfortunately the bursary is only available to new undergraduate students. I am currently on a foundation year at Cardiff Met, can I apply for the Study First Award?

No, unfortunately, you must be applying through UCAS as a new Cardiff Met student to qualify for the award. I will be living at home while studying at Cardiff Met, can I apply for the ‘Living First’ package?

The ‘Living First’ package is designed for students living in rented accommodation such as halls of residence or landlord-rented properties. In your case you should apply for the ‘Study First’ package which includes a Cardiff Metrider bus pass to help you travel to university.

What do I do once I have been approved for the award?

You will be contacted prior to enrolment with further information on how to use the award. If you have any queries you can contact the Study First team on studyfirst@cardiffmet.ac.uk

Will I need to re-apply in years 2 and 3?

If you have been awarded the bursary, it will automatically roll over onto years 2 and 3 (depending on progression). You will only have to specify your chosen package. If you don’t specify this, your choice will default to the ‘Study First’ package. For more information contact the Study First team on studyfirst@cardiffmet.ac.uk

I am receiving the Study First Award and will be continuing my studies into a fourth year, do I still get the award?

You will need to contact the Scholarship Co-ordinator on scholarship​@cardiffmet.ac.uk to review your circumstances.

I am re-sitting a year and not progressing, can I still have the Study First Award?

If you have been awarded the bursary but have to re-sit a year, you will only be able to continue receiving it if you have full mitigating circumstances for all re-sit credits.
