Do you need assistive software training?

As a results of having a Needs Assessment at the UWIC Assessment Centre, you may have been recommended utilising specialist (assistive) software to help you with your studies.

Examples of some of the software that you may have been recommended include:

  • Inspiration (Mind mapping software)
  • TextHelp Read and Write Gold (which has speech-to-text software to assist you with reading and assistance with assignment writing/proof reading)
  • Claro Read (which has speech-to-text software to assist you with reading and assistance with assignment writing/proof reading)
  • Dragon Naturally Speaking (speech-to-text software for you to dictate your assignments into the computer)

Digital Recorder - you will need to upload the software and know how to utilise audio files on your computer.  You may require training to show you how to do this efficiently

Process of Receiving Software Training

You will be invited in to the Disability Service to see a Disability Adviser for a "Post Assessment" meeting.  During this meeting, your assistive software training will be discussed.

Following this meeting, the Trainer will contact you to co-ordinate a mutually convenient time/s to carry out the training.

If you have any concerns regarding training (ie you have not heard from the Trainer), please contact the Disability Service.
