ANY student in receipt of DSA.
- Our centre is
fully equipped with assistive technology (both hardware and software) and ergonomic equipment to ensure that anyone assessed here is provided with the exact support for their needs.
- Our assessors are
qualified and experienced from various professional backgrounds. They continually engage in investigating new developments in assistive hardware and software.
- The assessors have a thorough understanding of issues in teaching and learning in higher education and use this knowledge to recommend the most effective and appropriate support package for the individual.
We are members of the
National Network of Assessment Centres and are accredited by
DSA Quality Assurance Group.
Reviewing any additional needs or requirements a student may present with following their assessment for the duration of their original course.
Liaising with funding bodies, equipment suppliers, other Higher Education Institutions and other relevant organisations.
Contacting the student to obtain feedback on how the assessment went and how their support is working in practice.
Stuart Ball - Needs Assessor
Stuart carries out needs assessments for disabled students, students with medical conditions and specific learning difficulties who are in receipt of a Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA).
Annie Horn - Assessment Centre Manager
Annie conducts needs assessments for disabled students with a range of diagnoses including mental health issues, sensory impairments, medical conditions and specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia or dyspraxia. Annie also oversees the Quality Assurance of the Assessment Centre and day to day operations.
Sue Wilkinson - Sessional Needs Assessor
Sue is an experienced Needs Assessor and carries out Needs Assessments for students in receipt of Disabled Students' Allowance on a sessional basis for Cardiff Metropolitan University Assessment Centre.
Gabriel Swatzell - Sessional Needs Assessor
Gabriel is an experienced Needs Assessor and carries out needs assessments for students in receipt of Disabled Students' Allowance on a sessional basis for Cardiff Metropolitan University Assessment Centre. He is an accredited Assistive Technology specialist and has extensive experience of conducting needs assessments globally.
