People are at the heart of sport and behind every player on the field is a workforce of people making things tick off it. At Sport Cardiff, our aim is to help facilitate coaching and volunteering across the City, providing the support needed to create and develop a highly skilled workforce to service the needs of Cardiff's sporting community.

Coaching Bursaries
Sport Cardiff are
pleased to be able to offer funding support to current or aspiring sports coaches.
The coaching bursary scheme aims to support the training and development of
coaches from across Cardiff, with a particular focus on coaches from
under-representative groups and areas of deprivation.
‘First
Step’ Coaching Bursaries are available to
help aspiring coaches get their first step up on the coaching ladder.
These bursaries offer support towards level 1 qualifications or equivalent,
although please note that coaches will be required to cover a minimum of 25% of
the qualification cost and support will be capped at a maximum of £150.
‘Next
Step’ Coaching Bursaries are also available for
current level 1 qualified coaches wanting to progress to level 2 or equivalent.
Coaches can apply for a bursary of up to £200 towards this cost, although
they will be required to cover at least 25% of the cost.
If you would like to apply
for a Sport Cardiff Coaching Bursary you can do so by clicking HERE.
Criteria
The Coaching
Bursaries will only support applications that will directly benefit sport in
Cardiff and align with Sport Cardiff’s mission of creating “opportunities for
all through sport”. Priority will be given to coaches that can directly
impact on Sport Cardiff initiatives in order to maximise the impact of these
bursaries.
Please note that
funding is limited and not all applications will receive funding - coaching
bursaries cannot be provided for courses already attended.
Failure to return a satisfactory monitoring form and supporting
documentation (e.g. certificates) may result in the bursary being re-claimed.
Recipients will be expected to support Sport Cardiff initiatives and events
during the year of the bursary where possible. Applicants must be age 18+
at the time of application.
