Life Cycle Analysis to go

Cardiff Met’s Eco-Design Centre was a partner in the successful 7th Framework Programme (FP7) Research Project entitled “LCA (Life Cycle Analysis) to go”.

The project was coordinated by the prestigious Fraunhofer Institute, Germany and involved 17 other partners. “LCA to go” developed sectoral methods and tools for bio-based plastics, industrial machinery, electronics, renewable energy, sensors and smart textiles.

These sectors had been chosen as the manufacturers showed a high interest in making clear the environmental benefits of their products to customers (“Green industries”) and in prioritizing so they can reduce their environmental impacts.

The project will have a direct impact on sectors representing nearly 500,000 SMEs. The total value of the project was £4.2m, with £300,000 allocated to Cardiff Met.
