Your UK experience doesn’t end when you graduate. The Global Engagement Graduate Skills Award is a package of expert support and opportunities to help international graduates make the most of their time studying, working and excelling in the UK. Helping you to kickstart your global career.

WHAT IS THE GEGSA?

The award is a package of support provided to international students throughout their studies and after graduation to help them apply for the graduate route visa and secure quality jobs.

The award can be taken by any international student studying at our Cardiff based campus who is in their final year of a Bachelor degree or studying a Postgraduate qualification starting in September 2021 and onwards.

The package includes different opportunities, tools and resources for students to enhance their degree and provide support when applying for the graduate route visa to kickstart their career. Students who complete the minimum required modules to obtain the Graduate Skills Award will also have the chance to receive a free Graduate Route Visa application worth £700. Students will also receive recognition of their achievements through an official Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR).

Students who achieve the Global Engagement Graduate Award will also be invited to submit an application to work in the Global Engagement department at Cardiff Met after they graduate. The successful applicant will gain experience in; Marketing, Customer Service, University Admissions and Recruitment, Compliance, Project Management and more.

The Global Student Advisory Service will offer students a range of support to assist them with their visa applications under the Graduate Route.

GRADUATE ROUTE WEBINARS

A comprehensive step-by-step webinar guide on how to complete each section of the application form and detailed advice on which supporting documents will be required.

Q&A Sessions and CHAT Forum

Monthly live Q&A webinar sessions giving students the opportunity to ask questions about the Graduate Route and access to dedicated Cardiff Met Graduate Route Forum.

Digital Skills

Cardiff Met IT training courses are designed to give students the digital skills they need for their studies, research and prepare them for future employment.

CAREER SUPPORT

Career Support

A wide range of career services including job application and CV writing workshops, mock interviews, CV and cover letter proofreading and career fairs and employer presentations.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP SKILLS

Entrepreneurship Skills

Workshops, talks and networking sessions led by Cardiff Met's Centre for Entrepreneurship. Empowering you to recognise and develop opportunities to create value.


PROFESSIONAL SKILLS

Professional Skills

Led by the five Academic Schools at Cardiff Met, access to various professional qualifications, additional training, workshops, certificates and awards.

GLOBAL OPPORTUNITIES

Global Opportunities

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I take advantage of the award?

All students will have access to the Global Engagement Graduate Skills Award once they have enrolled at the university. Students will need to register for the Award. Once registered, students will have online access to the information and modules they can take part in.

After graduation student will still have access to these resources. They will also be invited to a seminar for advice on switching to another type of work visa after their Graduate Route visa.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR the award?

Any international student studying at our Cardiff based campus who is in their final year of a Bachelor degree or studying a Postgraduate qualification starting in September 2021 and onwards.

Can I still get visa support even if I don't complete the award?

Yes - all students will have access to visa support for the graduate route visa, even if you choose not to register for or complete the award.

How will I be able to receive the graduate route application fee?

To be in with the chance of receiving a free Graduate Route Visa application*, student will need to achieve the award by completing a minimum number of modules before they graduate. 

*this applies to the application fee of £700 and does not include the Immigration Health Surcharge.
