Previously Elaine Williams worked as both a Personal Tutor and lecturer in the Tourism, Hospitality and Events Department for a period of 6 years. In her current role as Placement Advisor (Employer Engagement) she focuses on building relations within the local business community offering support through a variety of initiatives such as Placements, Internships and Research and Enterprise activities.
Elaine embarked on a career in Business and Marketing after graduating from Newcastle-upon-Tyne Polytechnic. A large part of Elaine's working life has been spent in South Africa and Spain where and she has worked for a variety of National and International companies including The Anglo America Corporation, Coopers and Lybrand and The Arab Bank. During her time in South Africa she worked in both Administrative and Marketing roles and acquired a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management. Since then she has completed a BSc in Business and Administration, a PGCE in post compulsory Education, a Post Graduate Certificate in Social Science Research, a CELTA qualification, PRINCE2 in Project Management and is a Fellow of the HEA. Currently Elaine is in the process of obtaining her Exec MBA which she hopes to complete next year.
Elaine has owned and operated her own hotel as well as working as a consultant for the Tourism and Leisure Industry and can offer a wealth of experience and knowledge in this field. Her experience in marketing, business operations and staff training and development is particularly strong in the field of Hospitality Management.
Elaine began her lecturing career with the CSM in the department of Tourism, Hospitality and Events in 2008 where she taught on a variety of modules on the International Hospitality degree programme. During the past seven years she has also taught in FE colleges and in private language schools.
Elaine has worked for the Personal Tutoring and Work Experience unit in CSM as well as delivering seminars and lectures on the Foundation, Level 4 and 5 degree programmes. She has also worked with the Widening Access Team delivering English Language skills as part of the Community First initiative helping a diverse range of adults realize their potential in terms of education and employability.
