Elspeth is a Senior lecturer in the Department Of Tourism, Hospitality & Events Management and currently is the Industrial Work Experience coordinator for all Tourism, Hospitality & Events Management students. She is responsible for liaising with industry employers both locally, nationally and internationally pre and post the student experience and forging new links with industry for prospective students. She offers professional academic guidance and support and pastoral care to these student groups whilst they endeavour to gain invaluable employment experience and develop their employability skills.

Elspeth has vast experience in the Hospitality industry, both nationally and internationally. A former student of this establishment, she now pursues her academic career here imparting her wealth of knowledge and experience. Her subject specialization is in Food & Beverage, Wine & Spirits, Customer Care, Licensed Trade Management and Human Resource management. She completed an MBA alongside her PGCE when leaving the industry, with her main area of research in Human Resource Management. Elspeth also plays a key role in the delivery of short courses in the School for both students and the general public.



Elspeth’s research interests are in Human Resource Management, Labour Markets, Teams, Multicultural diversity in the workforce, Industry image and profile. Elspeth is currently enrolled on a PhD exploring Multicultural Team Dynamics in the Hospitality Industry. She also collaborates in research areas such as Alcohol awareness, consumption and server intervention. She is currently working with colleagues on a pedagogic project exploring wine education and barriers to learning. Elspeth is also C.S.M.’s T.H.E. Institutional Representative for the HLST network of the Higher Education Academy. Areas of interest within this role focuses on facilitating training, education and industry liaison, research and promotion of new and innovative ideas that are then networked throughout both education and industry. She has also is a member of the HEA HLST Olympics Special Interest Group – Bringing 2012 into the classroom.​
