Over the years my research interests have largely focused on issues of strategy development; having explored contexts ranging from the formulation of sustainable tourism development strategies in the Gambia to problems surrounding the diffusion of environmentally sound technologies in support of a sustainable tourism strategy in Egypt. However, a recurring thread to my research has been related to the aviation industry. I have:
...undertaken research exploring critical success factors of strategic change at BAA (for my MPhil);
...undertaken Knowledge Transfer projects at a variety of companies including Cardiff Airport, where we undertook an ambitious project to enhance strategic planning and build more productive relationships with airlines by becoming more intelligence-led;
...and am currently reading for my PhD where I am looking at the viability of the commercial airport model to enhance the competitiveness of close-proximity, low cost carrier-led regional airports - particularly Cardiff Airport.
By inclination, my commercial background inclines me to an applied approach to my research, and I look for every opportunity to work with businesses to ground my activity and create a mutually beneficial dialogue.
