Staff Overview

Dr Yi Wang was awarded a PhD in Economics at Cardiff University.

She joined Cardiff Metropolitan University in 2015 and she is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

She is currently the Field Group Chair for Economics (TNE) at Cardiff School of Management.

Teaching

​Dr Wang has taught a variety of modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She currently teaches Microeconomics, Labour Economics, Health Economics, Econometrics (Quantitative Methods) at Cardiff Metropolitan University.

Dr Wang also supervises MBA students and is the internal examiner of PhD in Economics.

Research

​Dr Wang’s research interests include: Applied Econometrics on policy issues (public sector wage premium, gender discrimination), Micro-founded economic models, international trade and language effect.

​Dr Wang is now leading a project ‘The Use of Online Quiz to Improve Learning Efficiency and Academic Performance’. The purpose of this research project is to explore the effect of online quiz (Kahoot) applications on improving student’s exam marks.
