Profile
Dr Ridgewell is the module leader for SEM I and SEM II modules. He teaches on the MSc Sport and Exercise Medicine on a variety of lectures such as Drugs in Sport, Groin Injuries, Injection skills and Unexplained Underperformance Syndrome. He is also one of clinical methods lecturers and course examiners. In his capacity as the Chief Medical Officer for Wales at Sport Wales, and in his role as SEM Consultant, Mark provides an invaluable link between students, junior doctors, and those working within Welsh sport and encourages them to take the course. He also quality assures the medical content of the course and continues to develop ideas alongside current professional practice.

Mark Ridgewell is a GMC-recognised Specialist in SEM, Physician and General Practitioner who has worked in elite sport since 1991. He has acted as Medical Officer to England and Wales Cricket Board, and worked extensively in professional rugby union. Currently he is first team doctor and Chief Medical Officer to the Football Association of Wales AW, Head of Sports Medicine at Scarlets rugby, Sports Physician to the High Performance Unit at Sport Wales, Welsh Swimming, Welsh Athletics, Welsh Gymnastics, Welsh Netball and Glamorgan County Cricket and doctor to the Welsh Commonwealth Games team.
