What to Expect on your Open Day

Your Open Day programme will include:

Welcome talk

You will be welcomed to the University and hear from our Students’ Union on the range of activities and services they have to offer and what it’s really like to study at Cardiff Met. You will find out about the UCAS application cycle and receive tips on how to make the most of your Open Day experience. And you will learn about the extensive range of student support services on offer and how quick and straightforward it is to access them.

Campus Tour

The Campus Tour provides an opportunity for you to see the facilities specifically related to your course of interest in addition to other key areas of the campus. You will be guided on your tour by one of our fantastic team of Student Ambassadors who will be able to answer your questions as well as relate stories of their own personal experiences of studying in the school.

School Talk

Led by a member of academic staff, these talks highlight areas such as what your learning experience will be like; your opportunities whilst studying; the key strengths of your school; and how we give our students the Cardiff Met EDGE.

Meet the Academics

This is an opportunity for you to meet and to ask any specific questions that you may have directly to a member of academic staff.


The Hub

Alongside the timetabled talks there will be an opportunity to explore The Hub. You can visit The Hub throughout the day to speak with staff and students from a range of relevant areas including: 


• Admissions
– to answer any questions on the application process and specific application queries.


• Students’ Union
– to answer any questions on the role of the SU and what it is like to be a student at Cardiff Met. To highlight the range of clubs, societies and extra-curricular activities on offer.


• Accommodation Services
– to showcase the different types of accommodation on offer, for those who do not wish to go on a tour and answer any questions on the application process.


• Met Res Life
- the residential life team will demonstrate some of the activities students can take part in during your time here, including games tournaments and quizzes.


• Student Services
– to answer any questions relating to student support, wellbeing, financial support.


• Met Sport
- will provide information on all sport, physical activity & health programmes at Cardiff Met. Including information on our gym & fitness facilities, scholarship programmes, support for elite athletes, volunteering & employment opportunities.


• Sustainability
– to show some of the initiatives that are being undertaken to make Cardiff Met more sustainable and to highlight some of the ways that students can take part.


Accommodation Tours

You will have the opportunity to attend a tour of our student accommodation on both Cyncoed and Plas Gwyn halls of residence – these will run throughout the day.


City Bus Tours

For those unfamiliar with our city, we are also running bus tours with a certified Blue Badge tour guide who will take you around the key sights of Cardiff.


Visit both Cyncoed and Llandaff Campuses

We will provide an inter-campus shuttle bus that will enable you to experience both campuses on the day
