“During our New Product Development module, I was allocated the role of Food Technical Manager for a “cake in a jar” project using a Marks & Spencer cake as our benchmark product. I had no experience of working in a food production centre and my teammates had also never baked before – so this was a huge challenge! The teaching staff were very understanding and supportive throughout the whole process and provided us complete guidance and equipment which helped us to believe in our capabilities. They encouraged us to bring creativity and innovation in our project while making sure that we could make a product according to the food industry standards UK.”

“I have thoroughly enjoyed studying the course and I have had an amazing time. Not only in the sense of the academic elements of the course, but I have been able to experience university life and live it to the full! I was elected as the course representative, and even worked as an International Student Ambassador. I have enjoyed all subjects that I have studied, but if I had to choose a favourite, it would be the New Product Development module that I studied during my second semester. We got to develop new products for a real company, which gave me hands-on experience, related to the internships that I was applying for. Through the course I have secured an internship with Nestlé in Dubai, working as a new product development intern, which I am really excited about.”

Meet the Team

My teaching style and knowledge base has developed over many years and has been informed by experiences of working within the NHS, community public health, lecturing at both UG and PG levels and research. This background ensures that students are empowered with teaching that is interesting, focused and practical, to prepare them for a role as a dietitian. I hope that I can inspire students as a role model and encourage them to strive for their personal career aspirations.
