“Studying at Cardiff Met hugely enhanced my confidence through meeting new people, lecturers, individual presentations, work experience and much more. The lecturers and staff on the degree were great, they knew us all individually and I felt this really gave me the confidence I needed for when I graduated. It really felt like one big family studying at Cardiff Met. My degree has allowed me to pursue my dreams of opening my own business giving me the confidence and boost that I needed. I have used my knowledge and understanding from my degree in the setting up of Little Dinos Role Play Centre, which provides a fun and safe environment for children to explore their imagination and be anything and everything.”

“On the BA Primary Education with QTS degree we study through a combination of lectures and seminars. During seminars we receive hands-on experience with software and applications that can educate and inspire children, most of which I would never have stumbled across otherwise! These seminars also cover subjects such as science, literacy, numeracy, music and art. We are not only taught about these subjects and expanding our knowledge, we are also shown how to teach it from content experts that have taught these subjects for many years. The seminars have been really interesting and helpful in preparing you for upcoming school experiences. I was initially nervous about going on school placement, but I quickly became comfortable in the classroom.”

“I fell in love with the diversity of the EPSEN degree and being able to study a combination of 3 separate topics to give you a deeper knowledge of them. Before attending University I had experience of working with children with disabilities. This was something which really interested me – I enjoyed working with these people who had additional needs and I was excited to learn more whilst at university. Cardiff Met is very supportive with work placements, they introduced me to the agency I currently work for which provides me with lots of work in schools which I carried out on my day off. I also did my placement with this agency – supported by the university which meant I got paid to learn!”

“Prior to coming to University, I worked for twelve years as an administrator for Local Government in the Special Educational Needs Department. One of my fears of going to Uni was being the oldest and not fitting in, but my tutors and peers have been so supportive. Forest school training has been one of my favourite highlights, as well as working in a school’s Behaviour Unit which is an area I would like to focus on in the future. This work experience has been invaluable, not just financially but the experiences have helped to make everything I have learnt in lectures and seminars more relevant.”
