Staff Overview

Edmond Prakash is the Associate Dean Research of the Cardiff School of Technologies and a Professor of Computer Science. He leads the research agenda of the School. He is devoted to enhancing the School’s position of leadership in Wales, United Kingdom and the world with research strategy to accelerate the application of technical knowledge for the betterment of society.

Edmond represents the School at Cardiff Metropolitan University's committees for Research and Innovation, Graduate Studies, Research Degrees, Ethics, Research Excellence Framework, etc. He is the Chair of the Computer Graphics and Visual Computing (CGVC) Conference. He is also the founding Editor of the International Journal of Computer Games Technology.


Edmond’s Learning and Teaching (L&T) agenda at Cardiff School of Technologies is to embed research informed learning – through student projects, group projects, undergraduate research projects, case studies, industry visits, internships, research masterclasses and guest seminars. 

Edmond supervises PhD and Professional Doctorate research scholars in all areas of Engineering, Technologies and Computing including Visual Computing, Digital Business, Emerging Computer Technologies and Blockchain. Edmond also supervises Masters scholars in MPhil/MSc programmes, and several BSc (Hons) projects. 

At Cardiff Met, Edmond has taught in the Computer Science and Engineering programmes in subjects including Digital Business, Real-time Computer Graphics and Engineering Mathematics.


Edmond’s research agenda is to embed and give each researcher the Cardiff Met EDGE - ethical, digital, global and entrepreneurial skills. 

Edmond has published his novel research in the areas of Visual Computing in all top-tier avenues including Springer, Elsevier and IEEE. He collaborates globally with researchers and includes MIT, UIUC and Stony-Brook in the USA; Beijing Normal University, China; PUJ, Cali, Colombia; NTU, Singapore; MSU, IITs and IISc in India; UC, Australia. 

Edmond is actively looking to collaborate with and host Visiting Professors, Visiting Scholars, PhD Scholars, Masters Research Interns and Visiting Undergraduate Research Students.
