Profile

Helen is a qualified Speech and Language Therapist and has been working as part of the lecturing team at Cardiff Met since 2020.

Helen's first clinical post was in Gwent in 2007, working with children in both community clinics and children’s centres. Remaining within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board Helen specialised within paediatric dysphagia in acute and outpatient settings. Alongside this role Helen has a breadth of experience supporting children with complex communication needs and learning difficulties both within education settings and children’s centres.

Helen is a member of the professional body, RCSLT and the regulating body, HCPC.

Teaching

Helen is a specialist in paediatric dysphagia and paediatric complex needs.

She teaches on the following modules:

Research

Helen’s research interests are in early language development and paediatric dysphagia. A particular focus is early language development in paediatrics with complex needs.
