My role at the ZERO2FIVE Food Industry Centre

I have recently joined the ZERO2FIVE Food  Industry Centre team as a Process Waste Assistant. My role is to support the Process Waste Technologist in delivering waste audits, process evaluations; and assisting SMEs, in understanding and reducing their food and drink processing waste to enable them to become more sustainable and profitable.


Previous Experience

15 years – Barfoods (formerly Billingtons Foodservice & EPC (2007 – 2021) where I started working in the role of organic baby food weigher, which transitioned into a wet and dry weigher. I then progressed and worked in a variety of roles: Industrial chef, Stock Operator, Stock Controller and Quality Advisor/ Technical Admin.

  • Industrial Chef: Responsibility for filling in the recipes in a timely manner and checking that CCPs were adhered to.
  • Stock Controller: Responsible for all raw materials on site and ensuring weights were in spec.
  • Quality Adviser and Technical Admin:  It was under my remit to monitor the COAs to customer before the product arrived to make sure it complied with its specification. In this role, I was also in charge of document control changes on site, foreign body control, scales calibrated and preparing paperwork for BRCGS and customer audits.

Prior to 2007, I worked at Tillery Valley Foods (as an agency worker).
