About the programme

Where you will be going:

Your programme will be based in the Sacred Valley in a town called Urubamba, located near to the Urubamba river about an hour away from Cusco. The Sacred Valley is a region in the Andean highlands. It is called the Sacred Valley because it contains some of the best lands in the region. The Sacred valley is home to colonial towns and isolated weaving villages. Top attractions include incredible colourful  markets with traditional handicrafts, and the Inca citadels of Pisac and Ollantaytambo.

What you will be doing:

On the Peru Social Impact programme, you will be based in the local community, working in communities and local schools and contributing to community development programmes whilst learning about Peruvian culture. You will be delivering workshops on a variety of topics that may include STEM, Conversational English and Environmental Awareness. You may even work on a small practical project such as gardening or making eco-bricks.

You will have each weekend free on your programme to visit some of the top sights- don't miss spending a weekend in Cusco, or a visit to the lost city of the Inca's, Machu Picchu!

Where you will be staying:

You will be staying at a local guesthouse that we use regularly. All the rooms are dorm style, so you will be sharing with 2-4 other volunteers. Each room has an en-suite bathroom with western toilets, hot showers and a sink. There is plenty of space for you to relax in your spare time, including a large outside courtyard and welcoming reception area.
