Staff Overview

Following completion of her undergraduate degree in Accounting and Finance at Aberystwyth University, Surraya decided to continue with her academic qualifications by completing her postgraduate degree in International Finance also at Aberystwyth University, achieving the highest grade in her graduating class.

This led to a six month teaching fellowship placement within the School of Management and Business at Abersytwyth University. Following this she began her career within the finance department at Aberystwyth University as an Assistant Management Accountant. Whilst working at Aberystwyth University, she began her PhD in Banking and Finance at Bangor University and her career turned back to academia. Surraya is a very passionate research-led academic and her teaching mainly focuses around global financial markets and institutions.

Teaching

Global Financial Services, Bank Management, Global Financial Institutions. Undergraduate and postgraduate supervision, including PhD and DBA.

Research

Surraya's research interests are banking and finance, more specifically credit ratings. Her PhD was entitled Credit rating agencies' opinions and their impact in the banking sector.
