Dr Craig Ranson is a Senior Lecturer and Programme Director in Sport and Exercise Medicine at Cardiff Metropolitan University and a Sports Physiotherapist with the Wales Rugby Team. His previous posts include UK Athletics Chief Physiotherapist and National Lead Physiotherapist to the England and Wales Cricket Board. Craig is a consultant to a variety of sporting organisations including the International Cricket Council and the Sports Medicine Department of the University of the West Indies. His research focuses on sports injury prevention and management.​

Research / Publications

Craig and Dr Isabel Moore lead the Cardiff School of Sport, Sports injury Research Group (SiRG). SiRG collaborates with governing bodies such as the Welsh Rugby Union, the England and Wales Cricket Board and the International Cricket Council to provide Injury Risk Management services and research.

Teaching and Supervision

Craig is Programme Director and a Senior Lecturer on the MSc Sports & Exercise Medicine Programme. He is module leader of ‘Sports Injuries & Clinical Methods’ and contributes lectures to the undergraduate Strength Conditioning Rehabilitation and Massage (SCRaM) and postgraduate MSc Strength and Conditioning courses.
