Supporting policy translations and professional learning within Physical Health Education

Sphere Orienteering

This project involves a series of activities that support Welsh physical educators’ interpretation, contextualisation and enactment of the new curriculum framework for Wales. Using innovative approaches, such as ‘design centred workshops’ physical educators across Wales have been supported in the translation of the framework and its subsequent development and implementation into their own localised curricula. Long-term, these activities will provide support and continued commitment to high quality professional learning to ensure the sustainable and equitable implementation of Health and Education policies for people within all of our Welsh communities.

Advancing the use of Physical Literacy within Welsh National Governing Bodies

The Sport Wales funded Physical Literacy Consultancy project is a collaborative project that has focused on developing the knowledge and understanding of physical literacy within Welsh National Governing Bodies (NGB’s) (Welsh Triathlon, Welsh Netball, and Welsh Gymnastics) and their community partners (e.g. Carmarthenshire Leisure Department). The ongoing work has benefited workforce understanding and implementation of the physical literacy concept within community sport provision. Long term, greater understanding and development of practices informed by physical literacy will allow NGB’s to support local communities in accessing high quality sport and physical activity provision across Wales.
