Welsh Language Unit

The Welsh Language Unit leads the development of Cardiff Met’s Welsh language services and provision. This includes:

  • Supporting every part of the University to make sure that people can get the Welsh language services that they need and have the right to
  • Working towards our aim that 30% of our Welsh-speaking students study at least a third of their courses through the medium of Welsh by 2030
  • Encouraging all our Welsh-speaking students to study through the medium of Welsh where possible and to benefit from all the opportunities offered by the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol
  • Providing a Translation Service which supports Cardiff Met’s Welsh language services and provision
  • Offering Welsh lessons to staff and students and opportunities for them to develop their skills outside the classes, so that they’re confident to use Welsh both professionally and socially
  • Promoting the Welsh language and culture and encouraging the use of Welsh across Cardiff Met among students, staff and the public
