Recreational Gymnastics Programme

These classes are organised based on individual ability. The aim of these classes is to allow our recreational gymnasts to progress through our own levels system that has been developed to aid in the progression of skills and confidence. This programme is split into 4 classes, increasing in difficulty as the levels progress; Level 1&2 class, Level 3&4 class, Level 5&6 class, Level 7+ class. Gymnasts are moved up to classes at the coaches’ discretion, if you are unsure of which level class to book, please contact us.

Competitive Intermediate

This class is for those aged 8+, who are currently training at level 5 or above, and is interested in representing the Academy at competitions. The training and class structure differs from our Recreational classes, as it aims to prepare routines and skills that allow the gymnasts to compete. This class will be in addition to the gymnast’s Recreational classes. Trials can be organised on an individual basis at the coaches’ discretion.

Squad Development Class

This is our most advanced gymnastics class. Gymnasts train a minimum of 4 hours a week in a small group environment, allowing for optimal contact time with coaches. These classes follow a more rigorous training programme across all apparatus to prepare for competitions. Gymnasts in this group are as young as 6 and attend via coach invitation. Trials can be organised on an individual basis at the coaches’ discretion.

Teen Gymnastics and Adult Gymnastics

We offer a ‘pay as you go’ class for those who are interested in a more relaxed class structure. This class allows gymnasts of any ability, be it beginner or experienced, to attend and use our facilities under the supervision of our qualified coaches. Gymnasts can attend as regularly as they choose, and have the freedom to choose their focus for each class. Teen Gym is available for those aged between 13 and 17, while Adult Gymnastics caters for those 18+.

Club Ethos

As a club we aspire to provide everyone with an opportunity to experience gymnastics in a safe and fun-filled environment. We want to provide children with the physical and social building blocks that they can carry with them both in and out of the gym, as well as building confidence and improving health for our older members.

Safeguarding and Welfare

Child safeguarding and welfare is of upmost importance to us. We work closely with Welsh and British Gymnastics as well as our Welfare Officer to ensure that our policies are up to date and are being carried out correctly, providing a gymnast-orientated environment. All of our coaches are DBS registered through Cardiff Met University and have attended and achieved a Safeguarding and Welfare award from British and Welsh Gymnastics.

Should you have any welfare concerns or queries, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our Welfare Officer; Emma Williams: ewilliams@cardiffmet.ac.uk.
