How we allocate rooms

We will not be able to allocate any student a hall of residence place without receipt of a completed online 'Halls Application' Form. Priority for halls accommodation is given to first year undergraduate students. Halls are allocated in date order.

Please note that all offers will be made via email. You must ensure that we have your up to date email address to enable us to process your application.

Welsh speakers will be able to inform us if the prefer to live with fellow Welsh speakers. Depending upon demand we will endeavour to meet that preference. Please be aware that students will only be offered accommodation in halls which are designated for their study campus.

Allocations are made in three phases:

The first phase of allocations commences at the end of July - this is for non local students who apply prior to the 31st May and hold unconditional offers. Unconditional non local students who apply after 31st May will be placed in the second phase of allocations:

The second phase of allocations commences after A Level results in August and continues through to the start of term. We can only make offers to non local students who have received an unconditional offer of an academic place at Cardiff Metropolitan University.

The third phase of allocations commences once we have accommodated all non local students. Local students will       then be allocated in date order and based upon their distance from Cardiff.

Local students are those who live in the following Local Authority areas.

This is the order in which we allocate them:

1st Vale of Glamorgan

2nd Newport

3rd Cardiff
