Staff Overview

Catherine Wilson began her academic career in 2007. She joined the Cardiff School of Management in 2010. Catherine has worked in the field of Human Resource Management (HRM) for a decade within two business schools. She has also taught and trained Public, Private and Third Sectors in leadership and management in Wales.

Catherine has undertaken a number of other roles in the school, she was Programme Director for Post Graduate Certificate in Applied Social Research Methods (PGCASR) and in 2019 Catherine designed and validated the BA (hons) Management and Leadership and has been Programme Director in CSM for this degree.

Her key areas of teaching include: HRM, leadership and management, performance, people and change management, equality and diversity, mental health and wellbeing, organisational culture and behaviour, employee relations, strategic people management, professional practice and research skills.

Prior to joining Cardiff Metropolitan University Catherine was a Research Fellow and Lecturer at the University of South Wales, her research focused on: Workplace Conflict, Leadership, Organizational Behaviour, Human Resource Management and Development, Organisational Behaviour and Strategic Leadership. She has also taught on a number of postgraduate and undergraduate courses in business and society.

Teaching

Catherine is passionate about HRM and the student journey, she focuses on building a HRM identity and community, bringing real life examples into the classroom and the assessment. Within her teaching she has led on all her modules across the BA and MSc. She is leader for two modules on the MSc in Human Resource Management. She also supervises dissertations at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The BA (hons) Management and Leadership will begin in September 2022.
