Staff Overview

Originally a Banker I have been involved in all aspects of the teaching and learning process both in the classrooms and behind the scenes with programme management.

The interaction with keen students ready to learn, think and challenge the normal paradigms is the best part of what I do on a day-by-day basis.

Teaching

I have taught from levels 4-7 including cores in Finance for Entrepreneurship, options in Personal and Investment related finance and acted a module co-ordinator for our Dissertation module for several years.

I have written and delivered several short courses for external use.

In 20-21 I launched two new modules:

a) Finance for Entrepreneurs – in which we are trailing online business simulations as a formative assessment

b) Money and Investment a “primer” into the always changing field of financial markets and their impact on real life – this year we will be re-integrating Bloomberg into the delivery.

Research

My research interests lie in the fields of the retail economy and debt – personal, corporate and sovereign

Key Publications

Other Projects and activities

I am an external examiner at 2 institutions and have worked in this field for 20 years. Visiting other HEI’s is always informative (and entertaining) and I know I’ve brought valuable lessons back- hopefully taken some out too.

External Links

I have extensive experience as a media commentator on “finance” and “the economy” across a range of broadcasters both national and local.
