Staff Overview

Born in Galicia, Spain, Mrs Fatmi has lived in Cardiff since 1997. A graduate in English Philology by the University of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia. Cristina’s passions are languages and language learning, and North American and English Literature.

Cristina has taught in Higher Education since October 1998, when she started teaching in undergraduate free-standing modules at Cardiff University Centre for Lifelong Learning. Since then, she has taught a wide variety of modules for undergraduates (for engineers, for medics, for the Business School) and for adults. Cristina has also taught adults at all levels from beginners to advanced, oral and aural skills, conversation, intensive summer courses and has designed completely new and innovative courses such as La Actualidad (current affairs) and El Lenguaje Periodístico (Newspaper language in Spanish).

She has taught Spanish GCSE at Cardiff and the Vale College.

Teaching

At Cardiff Metropolitan University, Cristina teaches Spanish language modules at the Cardiff School of Management, within the International Business Management degree. As well as continuing to teach year one and year two Spanish modules in the IBM programme, at the moment, Mrs Fatmi is also a tutor for the Working in Management BHL3001 module of the Foundation Programme and the Work Experience module at level 5, also at CSM.

Research

Her research interests are in bilingualism and the added value of languages in the world of business.
