Staff Overview

I am a Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management at Cardiff School of Management since September 2023. I am a Senior Fellow of Advance Higher Education and an Academic Member of Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).

Prior to joining Cardiff Met University I worked at University of the West of England, Bristol; Bahrain Polytechnic, Bahrain and University of Central Punjab, Pakistan. In 2022, I received CEO's Research Award Teaching and Learning; the same year I also received appreciation as a 'Young Pakistani Achiever in Kingdom of Bahrain', from Embassy of Pakistan, Bahrain. Over the past 18 years, I have been a teacher, teacher trainer, module leader, programme leader, corporate trainer, academic projects supervisor and a department head. I had also been a consultant for General Directorate of Qualification, Bahrain; Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit-Pakistan, and for the Department of Professional Development, Government of Punjab, Pakistan. I have developed and delivered modules and conducted trainings in public and private sector.

I did my Doctorate from University of Bath, Bath, UK, September 2020 for which I received scholarship, merit, and distinction. I obtained my MBA from University of Central Punjab, Pakistan with a first position and a Bachelor of Arts from University of Punjab, Pakistan. I also did a range of qualifications for my professional development. I received Certificate of Achievement on Quality Matters Rubric, from Quality Matters, USA; Google Data analytics Professional Certificate by Google; Certificate in Tertiary Teaching and Learning; Leadership and Management Program Certificate, Post Graduate Diploma Certificate in Adult Education, Planning and Management, Training and Development; Post Graduate Certificate Course in Teaching and Learning and a Bachelor of Computer Sciences.

Teaching

I am teaching on a range of HRM modules that are a part of undergraduate, postgraduate and/or executive programmes.

Research

I am interested in understanding people development and talent management in a range of public and private sector organisations and as part of changing societal context. At present, I am working on a co-authored paper analysing the perspectives of professionals leaving UK-HE.

My doctoral research was around analysing the changing role of academics and higher education institutions. My thesis investigated University Industry Knowledge Exchange (UIKE) as part of HE academics' role and if it can serve the goals of professional development for academics. Incorporating perspectives from Human Resource Management and Teacher Training in HE, this study unpacked academics' professional practices and proposed a more holistic model for enhancing academics' participation in UIKE. For this project, I received CEO's Research Award Teaching and Learning-2022.

I will be interested in working on research projects related to teaching and learning, accreditations, assessment and evaluation, employability and talent management practices.
