Staff Overview

Sheetal is a Lecturer in Strategic Management at the Cardiff School of Management, Cardiff Metropolitan University. Prior to joining Cardiff Met, Sheetal was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford where she researched sustainability-oriented entrepreneurial intermediary organisations (e.g., incubators, accelerators) and their role in supporting startups to align towards the SDGs. She was also a Fellow at the Green Templeton College, University of Oxford.

Prior to joining Oxford, Sheetal had former experience in teaching as an Assistant Professor (Lecturer) at a leading B-school in India, where she taught courses on Strategic Management, Business Consulting, Design Thinking and Sustainability Management.

Sheetal also comes with industry experience having worked as a Management Consultant on various international development projects for the World Bank, FAO, USAID, and Gates Foundation. Her consultancy projects also included working with CXO-level clients from industry, academia, as well as startup ventures for advisory on strategy formulation and execution, technology transfer and commercialisation, and management and valuation of intellectual property assets.

Sheetal completed her PhD in Strategic Management from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Mumbai, India, with her doctoral degree funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.

Sheetal is an Accredited i-act Practitioner. She also holds a diploma in Intellectual Property Law.

Teaching

Sheetal has teaching experience in strategic management, design thinking, business consulting, sustainability management, intellectual property management and entrepreneurship. She has supervised numerous MBA postgraduate final projects. In her previous teaching engagement, Sheetal consistently received high ratings in student feedback. Her pedagogical style involves use of simulation, case studies, gamification, and peer-to-peer learning to enhance classroom learning experience.

Research

​​Sheetal is an active researcher in the fields of strategic management, intellectual property management, and entrepreneurship. Her on-going research projects are focused on sustainability and circular economy, blockchain in sustainability of agri-food supply chains, and exploring new forms of sustainable business models.

Sheetal was the recipient of the “Seal of Excellence” for her project grants from the Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions (MSCA) funded by the Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe schemes by the European Commission.

Other Projects and activities

​​Intermediaries for SDGs project with Prof. Paulo Savaget and Prof. Pinar Ozcan at Said Business School, University of Oxford. This project explores role of entrepreneurial intermediary organisations and their role in supporting sustainability development goals by early ventures.

IP4CE Project with Prof. Frank Tietze from the Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge. This project use patent data to analyse circular economy strategies in managing electric vehicle battery waste in the European context.
