Christa is a Principle Lecturer in the Cardiff School of Sport, which she joined in 1993 having spent a number of years teaching Physical Education in a secondary school in Cardiff. 

Christa is currently the Director of Academic Programmes in the Cardiff School of Sport and is responsible for the operational management of all the academic programmes offered within the School. She works with the Coordinators in the School to ensure the consistency of systems and procedures associated with the academic delivery, assessment, management, and quality assurance and quality enhancement of all taught programmes in the School.  

She plays a key role in driving, the staff development programme across the school.  Her undergraduate teaching focuses on Physical Education and Coach Education in Aquatics. ​


 

Research / Publications

My main research interest focuses on teaching and learning in higher education and include the use of assessment for learning, visual ethnography and the student experience in university transitions.

Teaching and Supervision

Christa is module leader for SSP6080 Analysis and Application (Swimming), Activity leader for SSP4001 Introduction to Applied Principles and Techniques in Professional Practice, SSP5068 Sport Techniques and Analysis (Body Management) and teaches on SSP4019 Introduction to Physical Education and Youth Sport. She is a Level 4 and 6 personal tutor for Sport and Physical Education students and supervises undergraduate and post graduate dissertation students.

    I am a coach educator and assessor for Teaching Aquatics (L1 and 2) and Swimming Coaching (Level 1 and 2).  In addition I have been a member of a working group responsible for developing assessment material for the courses listed above.  I am currently working with the Coach Education Manager for Swim Wales and other Swim Wales Tutors to develop a blended learning approach in delivering these NGB coaching awards.
