James is a lecturer in Sports Rehabilitation and Massage on the BSc (Hons) Sports Conditioning, Rehabilitation and Massage (SCRAM) degree at Cardiff Metropolitan University.

Since graduating in 2013 with a BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy degree, James has furthered his studies by completing an MSc in Sports Rehabilitation. Across the years, he’s worked with professional sport clubs such as Brentford FC, Peterborough United FC and Saracens Rugby Club. Amongst this, James has also developed a clinical practice, since being self-employed in London.


Research, Interests and Publications

James’ research interests include the following themes:

  • Effects of sports massage vs taping applications for musculoskeletal injury
  • Rehabilitation protocols in athletic populations
  • Effects of cryotherapy on injury
  • Psychological principles of injury
  • Youth athlete injury (Sever’s, Osgood-Schlatter)


Teaching and Supervision

James leads two modules; SSP4119 Anatomy and Clinical Assessment, and SSP4121 Introduction to Sports Massage and Soft Tissue Techniques. However, James has also contributed to:
