Our Business Law and Management degree prepares you for today’s global business environment. With a blend of legal knowledge, hands-on experience, and up-to-date business and management skills, you will learn how modern companies operate, including the important rules and legal structures businesses must follow to succeed.
Tackle real business challenges and case studies, to gain valuable practical skills and insights into both the UK and international corporate world. Put legal theory into action in our purpose-built mock courtroom and experience working on real cases at our Free Legal Answers Clinic in collaboration with LawWorks at Cardiff School of Management.
Our In-house Law module is first of its kind in the UK and designed with real businesses. You’ll explore the pivotal role of the General Counsel and gain insight into how legal strategy supports and drives business success.
Learn how to think like an entrepreneur, explore strategic business opportunities, and make smart, informed decisions through real-world scenarios. You can also choose to specialise in digital marketing or human resource management with our optional modules.
Whether you want to manage, advise, consult, or even launch your own business, your legal and practical expertise will be valued across the professional world.
This degree can be studied as a three-year full-time degree or a four-year degree that includes a year of foundational study. Our foundation year is intended to prepare you for your subsequent years of studying, offering you the chance to strengthen your skills, knowledge and confidence.
The foundation year will be relevant to:
- Students who have not achieved the required A-level points (or equivalent) score to enter the first year of the degree programme.
- Mature students who have been out of the formal education system for some time.

Year in Industry
You have the option to spend a year in industry on a work placement after successfully completing your second year of study. We have a dedicated work placement team to support you in securing a placement. This experience can boost your career prospects and give you an advantage when applying for jobs after graduation.
Year Three (Level 6)
Study four compulsory modules (80 credits) and select one optional module (40 credits). If you have already completed a year in industry, select the 40 credit Industrial Work Experience optional module.

You’ll learn through a mix of traditional teaching methods, including lectures and seminars, alongside experiential learning with practical workshops and hands-on clinical practice in our purpose-built moot courtroom at Cardiff School of Management. You will also benefit from guest speakers and workshops led by business and legal experts.
This blend of teaching methods ensures active engagement and the development of crucial skills for careers in the business and management and the legal sector. Our course structure and teaching strategies are designed to support independent learning as you progress.
You’ll develop your skills and confidence in presenting, problem solving and public speaking by putting theory into practice throughout the degree. A Personal Academic Tutor will also offer academic guidance and support every step of the way.
Our Business Law and Management degree uses a range of different assessment methods such as written coursework, presentations, reflective reports, role plays and exams. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to undertake authentic assessments in placement learning, clinical practice, pitching, mooting and advocacy.
This blended approach allows you to demonstrate your competencies in a variety of formats, emphasising practical skills and strategic thinking.
You will be guided by our academic team throughout the learning process to help you improve your skills and understanding through feedback and encouraging you to reflect on your own learning to become an independent learner.

- International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma: 2 x H5. No specific subjects required.
