Objective 5 - Implement a Community of Practice between UK and Vietnamese HEIs

The main purpose of this community of practice is to share and develop knowledge and best practice through learning and teaching as well as quality assurance in order to inform policy and enhance learning and teaching (L&T) throughout the partners.

Three thematic strands have been set up as part of the EQUIP Project and are as follows:

​1. Learning and Teaching Enhancement

Facilitated by: Vietnam National University – International School (VNU-IS)

The community of practice will focus on constructive alignment focusing on student engagement and the local cultural context to enhance learning and teaching in Computer Science/AI programmes (involvement of industry, organisations, etc)

Group to determine own goals which may include:

1. Developing understanding and implementation of constructive alignment focusing on student engagement and the local cultural context

2. Sharing innovative learning and teaching practices that promote/enhance student engagement in Computer Science/AI programmes

3. Developing understanding of work-integrated learning with industry involvement


2. Quality Assurance and Enhancement

Facilitated by: Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST)

The community of practice Quality Enhancement and Assurance will focus on the development of key areas for staff across all subject areas to aim for international recognition and raising the quality of the whole suite of programmes delivered at HUST, HCMUT and VNU (involvement of industry, organisations, etc)
Group to determine own goals which may include:

1. Sharing approaches to developing and approving new curriculum, including approaches to levelling and constructive alignment​

2. Sharing approaches to ongoing quality enhancement through student engagement and partnership

3. Sharing approaches to the enhancement of programmes and modules through ongoing reflection on data sources and feedback

4. Sharing approaches to support for Programme Directors and Module Leaders to enhance the quality of their programmes



3. Subject Specific Research Informed Teaching

Facilitated by: Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT)

The community of practice Subject Specific Research Informed Teaching will focus on the organisation of joint research seminars between HUST, HCMUT, VNU, and Cardiff Met (involvement of industry, organisations, etc).

Group to determine own goals which may include:

1. Sharing joint research topics that could lead to joint research papers in Computer Science/AI thematic areas

2. Setting up joint research seminars to be held at HUST, HCMUT, VNU and Cardiff Met in attendance of academic staff members

 

Each thematic strand has its own membership group. This group is made up of at least one member from each of the participating partners (CMET, VNU-IS, HUST and HCMUT) with each group having a minimum of 4 members in total. Depending on meeting topics, additional participants may be invited to attend from each partner institution, or even from industry where relevant. In addition, each Vietnamese partner acts as the facilitator for one of the thematic strands.

​There will be at least two meetings within the project timeframe, and meetings will continue to be held quarterly for 12 months following the end of the project with topics of the meetings to be agreed on by the members of the strand.​​
