Phase 3: The Roadmap

A toolkit was developed to support the assessment of barriers and mitigation strategies in establishing TNE partnerships. The purpose of this toolkit was to capture the lessons learned from the project and provide a practical reference point for future initiatives, particularly for UK and international HEIs seeking to explore and develop TNE partnerships.

Building on this, a detailed roadmap was produced to guide the development of a TNE partnership between the regions. The roadmap was structured across key phases: Partnership Exploration, Partnership Set-Up, Early Delivery, Ongoing Delivery and Quality Assurance, and Review, Renewal and Expansion.

Within each phase, key activities required to support a successful partnership were outlined, with consideration given to the roles of different stakeholders. These included the UK university partnership team, the international partner (in this case, the National Open University of Nigeria), link tutors, as well as regulators and other external stakeholders.

The roadmap was designed to be used alongside the Phase 2 outputs to ensure coherence and alignment. While it is recognised that such roadmaps will need to be adapted to reflect the specific context of individual partnerships, this resource provides a structured and transferable foundation for future TNE development.
