Cardiff Met sports facilities are open to all; whether you are an elite athlete, a casual player or you have never taken part before.

The Archers Arena is located on the Cyncoed Campus and has been designed to accommodate:

  • Premier competition level Netball and Basketball
  • Includes 8 full-size badminton courts, 2 basketball and netball courts
  • Up to 500 spectator seats on a series of moveable bleacher seat units

The Archers Arena adjoins the gable end of the existing Tennis Centre and features changing rooms and an entrance space.

Take a step inside the new Cardiff Metropolitan University's Archers Performance Centre.

The Astro Turf is located on the Cyncoed Campus and has pitch markings for hockey and football. It is complete with dugouts, spectator areas, electronic scoreboard, and in-situ IP cameras that are used to provide high-quality video analysis. It is the home of our student hockey teams and junior hockey academy.

The Dance Studio is located on Cyncoed Campus. It has a sprung wooden floor and is partially mirrored with 360 degrees of natural light which makes it ideal for the teaching of dance.

Met Active Cyncoed is a purpose-built gym developed for both able-bodied and disabled users.

It is comprised of cardio-vascular machines, weight stations, prowler area, wattbike area and warm-up/cool-down areas. The Centre also accommodates a free weights area including 7 squat racks, a functional workout area and dumbbells ranging from 1kg-50kg.

Situated on the first floor of the Student Centre in Llandaff, this fitness facility houses the latest cardio vascular and weight training equipment.

The facility is open to students, staff, and the local community.

The National Indoor Athletics Centre (NIAC) is located on the Cyncoed Campus at Cardiff Met. It is the first purpose-built indoor athletics track in the UK.

The NIAC can also accommodate other sports including netball, basketball and volleyball.

The facility is fully equipped to international standard and has a seating capacity for 690 spectators.

The NIAC is home of our Cardiff Archers Athletic Club.

We have three football pitches at Cardiff Metropolitan University:

3G Football Pitch - Cyncoed

Our FIFA 2-star 3G football pitch is the home of our Men's, Women's and junior academy football teams.

Grass Football Pitch - Cyncoed

We have a grass football pitch located adjacent to our 3G pitch which is primarily used for training and BUCS fixtures.

Grass Football Pitch - Llandaff

Our football pitch in Llandaff is located at the rear of the campus and also has pitch markings for lacrosse. We also have two grass 5-a-side pitches on the Llandaff Campus.

We have three rugby pitches at Cardiff Metropolitan University:

3G Rugby Pitch - Cyncoed

Our 3G rugby pitch is utilised by the student sports teams for training and competitive fixtures. This pitch is located inside the outdoor 400m athletics track.

Grass Rugby Pitch - Cyncoed

The grass rugby pitch is situated behind the Archers Arena and Tennis Centre. It is primarily used for BUCS and National League fixtures, and includes a large spectator stand and electronic scoreboard.

Grass Rugby Pitch - Llandaff

Our grass rugby pitch in Llandaff is located in picturesque scenes at the rear of the campus and adjacent to Llandaff Cathedral. This pitch is primarily used for BUCS fixtures.

Our Outdoor Athletics Facility consists of a 6 lane 400m track and multiple field event areas to accommodate:

  • High jump
  • Pole vault
  • Throwing cage
  • Shotput area

The Sports Hall, located on the Cyncoed Campus, is a multi-purpose facility catering for a variety of sports including badminton, basketball, netball, volleyball, cricket and general training.

Located next to the Sports Hall are 2 Squash Courts.

The courts are used primarily by the Cardiff Met squash team for training purposes, home league fixtures, and BUCS matches. The squash courts are also used by students and the local community on a recreational basis.

Studio One is a multi-purpose space where a range of our fitness classes take place. The Spin Studio is where all our spin classes take place, comprising of 15 top of the range spin bikes. Both spaces can be used by our members when they aren't occupied.

Classes are open to members and non-members.

The pool is a 4-lane, 25 metre indoor swimming pool with a 1m shallow end and 3m deep end.

Located on the Cyncoed Campus, the swimming pool is used by students on various sports courses, the Cardiff Met swimming team , water polo team, junior swimming academy, and the general public for recreational swimming.

This specialist gymnastic facility is fully-equipped to meet the coaching and educational needs and gymnastic-specific ability levels of students within the School of Sport, Cardiff Met Gymnastics squad, and the Junior Gymnastics Academy.

This facility has been developed in partnership with the Lawn Tennis Association and is Wales' Regional Tennis facility.

The Tennis Centre comprises of four indoor courts at the Cyncoed Campus.
