News |14 June 2022

Cardiff Metropolitan University is working with a major airport and a renowned global university to launch a new world-class aviation management degree.

Starting in September 2022, the BA (Hons) Aviation Management programme is a dedicated aviation qualification, delivered in conjunction with expert staff at Cardiff Airport (CWL) and Florida-based Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University – Worldwide.

Students on the three-year, full-time course will study the latest aviation management theories, systems and practices to ensure meaningful employment in the industry.

The BA (Hons) Aviation Management degree will see students graduate not only with an industry-specific degree but also with the Ethical, Digital, Global and Entrepreneurial skills provided by Cardiff Met EDGE, an approach to curriculum delivery at Cardiff Met that ensures graduates have the vital skills and experience in today’s exceptionally competitive employment market.

The course, which is currently accepting applications via UCAS, will provide an unparalleled understanding of all aspects of aviation law, aviation strategic management, aerospace safety, airline management and employment issues relating to the industry.

Cardiff Met students will benefit from a close working relationship with the experienced staff at Cardiff Airport. Work experience modules will enable students to take part in focused work placements in a variety of areas and there will also be opportunities to create bespoke research projects based on personal and academic areas of curiosity. In addition, the close relationship with Cardiff Airport is expected to create CWL-generated research and consultancy proposals which can be readily addressed by students on the course.

The relationship with a range of aviation and aerospace experts at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University – Worldwide will have a huge benefit for Cardiff Met students. Embry-Riddle – Worldwide teaches over 22,000 students online at more than 110 campuses – offering Cardiff Met students the opportunity to engage and collaborate with students across the world.

Like all other programmes at Cardiff Met, the BA (Hons) Aviation Management will also have a strong focus on employability, with networking opportunities existing with both Cardiff Airport and Embry-Riddle and students receiving support from Cardiff School of Management’s employability team.
