Dr Jiaji Yang

Lecturer in Robotics
Cardiff School of Technologies

Overview

Dr. Jiaji (Jack) Yang is a Lecturer in Robotics Engineering at Cardiff School of Technologies, Cardiff Metropolitan University, and a Researcher at the EUREKA Robotics Centre. His research focuses on Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) across multiple application domains, including social assistive robotics, rehabilitation and healthcare robotics, and agricultural and livestock robotics. He has introduced the innovative concept of “Human-Robot Companionship”, with a particular emphasis on AI-driven interaction frameworks and the application of robotics in interdisciplinary contexts. His work aims to explore how robots can play an active role in social services.

In the area of research dissemination, Dr. Yang has published in the field of service and social robotics, including peer-reviewed journal articles, conference papers, and book chapters. He has also delivered presentations at both UK-based and international academic conferences.

Dr. Yang actively promotes the translation of robotics research outcomes into cross-border collaborations between the UK, China, and Malaysia. He has participated in numerous international projects supported by organizations such as the British Council, Welsh Government, and UK-RAS Network, strengthening global partnerships and advancing the real-world adoption of robotics technologies.
