Dr Kate Isherwood
Lecturer in Public Health
Cardiff School of Sport & Health Sciences
Overview
I joined Cardiff Met in January 2022 following employment at Public Health Wales as a Senior Researcher. Before this, I completed my PhD in the School of Psychology at Bangor University. Since I joined Cardiff Met, I have co-led the Research and Innovation group for Public Health and Wellbeing research within Cardiff Metropolitan University and held a position on the management team for the centre for Health, Activity and Wellbeing Research (CAWR) as the institutional lead for our collaboration with Euro Health Net. I regularly work with Public Health Wales and other organisations and charities to complete applied research in vaccine hesitancy, population wellbeing and leisure time (related to the HAPUS programme) and evaluating the implementation of CPR training in trainee teachers.
Teaching and supervision
I am currently module lead for Health Equity Interventions, a postgraduate course for students completing an MSc in Applied Public Health. I am also module lead for Determinants of Health, a first year module for students completing a BSc in Environmental Health. I also supervise and module lead the Level 7 Research Project module for students completing an MSc in Applied Public Health or MSc in Occupational, Health and Safety. I also contribute to teaching on the following modules: Applied Research Methods and Design, Professional and Interprofessional Development (Level 4), Worker Engagement and Wellbeing and Biopsychosocial Issues in Health.
I supervise students at both BSc and MSc level from Environmental Health, Applied Public Health and Occupational Health and Safety.
I am interested in applications for doctoral study supervision in the above areas.
