Our Welcome Events

We have a number of events planned to help you prepare for your Cardiff Met experience and to settle into your new home. Some are open to all new students, and some are designed for specific groups.

Transition Event

This event is specifically designed to support neurodiverse students and new students with mental health, disability or additional support needs to transition to University. Students selected for this event will receive an e-mail invitation and booking link from our Student Services team.

Get Cardiff Met Ready

This event will run on both campuses on September 5, 2025, and is open to all new students. You’ll receive an e-mail with a link to sign up during the summer. The day is all about getting you set for an excellent start at Cardiff Met, helping you familiarise yourself with your campus and giving you the opportunity to meet other students before Welcome Week. You’ll also be able to collect your MetCard if you have enrolled and uploaded your photo. Please note that students invited to attend the Transition event are also very welcome to attend Get Cardiff Met Ready!

International Student Welcome

This event is specifically designed for new international students. International students will be contacted by our Global Engagement team with details.

Moving In events

These events are specifically designed for those students moving into University halls of residence. You can find out more on the Moving In pages.

Welcome Week – Monday, September 22 to Friday, September 26

You’ve arrived! It’s really important that you engage with your Welcome Week programme. During this week, you’ll find out everything you need to know to successfully start your studies at Cardiff Met and you’ll meet your programme team. We’ll send you a link to your Welcome Week timetable with details of all the sessions you need to attend in early September. Around these sessions, our Welcome Week information hubs will be open from you to visit between 9am and 4pm, featuring teams including Student Services, IT, Libraries and the Students’ Union. There will also be opportunities to take part in campus tours and speak to current students.

The Llandaff Campus hub will close on Wednesday, September 24 as all activity moves to Cyncoed for the Students’ Union’s Freshers’ Fayre. That’s not to be missed. Find out more about what the Students’ Union have planned for you.

Please note that Welcome events for PGCE students happen earlier in September. These students will be e-mailed directly with the details.
