Personal Tutors

Personal Tutors at Cardiff Met

Every student will have a Personal Academic Tutor allocated to them during their induction period.

Your Personal Academic Tutor will usually be an academic member of staff from your course.

Your Personal Academic Tutor supports your learning journey from your first week at Cardiff Met right through to graduation. This guide explains how Personal Academic Tutoring works and how to make the most of it to support your learning journey, achieve the degree you aspire to and establish a firm foothold for your future career.

The key aims of Personal Academic Tutoring (PAT) are to:

  • Support you to settle into university life at Cardiff Met
  • Help you understand how to learn at university
  • Develop your academic skills to succeed in assessments
  • Help you make decisions about your learning at Cardiff Met and your career beyond
  • Signpost you to the other support services available at the university

No matter the query, your personal tutor will be able to help you to access the most appropriate person or support within the University or beyond.

You can find out who your Personal Academic Tutor is through your MetStats portal (after you have enrolled) and email them for advice or an appointment.
