Biography

Ian hails from the West Midlands and following completion of a printing apprenticeship, he continued his studies graduating from Staffordshire University in 1985 with a Multi-Disciplinary Design degree. He has developed a wide range of professional expertise following vocational experiences in commercial photography and print.

An experienced Senior Lecturer, he is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and is a member of the teaching team for the BA(Hons) Graphic Communication undergraduate degree. Interest in digital media led to the completion of an MA in Communication Media at the University of the West of England in Bristol, focusing on interactive communication.

Current research

Interests focus on interactive screen based experiences exploring the nature of interactivity, narrative and the ‘click to continue’ paradigm. The use of the webcam has been explored in the context of digital narrative.

Ian has a lead role in developing employability within the curriculum in relation to CSAD’s undergraduate scheme. This includes the coordination, management and expansion of work placement opportunities for level 5 students.
