The annual
AMI Conference was initiated to help realise the School Research Strategy objective of 'support and develop staff capability and capacity towards research'; and the University strategy of achieving 'growth in the volume, quality, value and impact of research and innovation'.
The conference seeks to promote research in management and innovation-related disciplines and aims to showcase the research of academics, practitioners, and research students. The event thus engages with the early career and research student communities with a dual focus of; building a research culture via the opportunity to present work often for first time in supportive environment, whilst providing an outward-facing showcase for CSM research.
The first AMI conference took place in 2017 and has grown both nationally and internationally; 20 papers with 60 delegates in 2017, 24 papers with 80 delegates in 2018, 30 papers and 100 delegates in 2019, and 60 papers with 175 delegates in 2021. The 2021 conference included several papers delivered by members of the University’s collaborative partner network with papers from India, Greece, Middle East and also from other countries such as Ireland, China and Mexico.
The 2021 conference took place online, due to COVID-19 and full conference proceedings and conference presentations are available from

The annual AMI research conference is aligned to the
Advances in Management and Innovation (AMI) Working Paper Series Journal (ISSN: 2050-4179), a developmental and supportive peer reviewed publication outlet.
