How to Apply

Thank you for your interest in studying for a PhD in the Cardiff School of Management.

There is a formal applications process for research degrees, so your application will need to go through our International Office in the first instance or the Admissions Unit for UK/EU students. In addition, if any proposals are accepted, all students are then interviewed as part of the application process (this can be done via Skype or MS Teams), before any offer is made.

Guidelines

Guidelines on the research proposal that we require with any formal application are available. To be considered applicants need to submit a full application together with one detailed WORD format (Ariel 12 format with no colour) research proposal of approximately 2,000 words. View the research proposal guidelines here

Tuition Fees

For full details about full-time or part-time student tuition fees please view the UK and EU Fees Table 2021-22. Please note there are no scholarships available within the School. (see page 3 for Research Degree programme fees).

Please note that applications can take some time to process, and typically it may take 6-8 weeks to receive a final decision. We consider the quality and appropriateness of the research proposal, as well as the availability of research degree supervisors.

We consider each research proposal on merit and we may ask applicants to revise and resubmit before reaching a final decision, if we think that the proposed research has potential. The PhD programme has three intakes per year (September, January and April), the Professional Doctorate has two intakes per year (September and April) and the DMan has one take each year in October.
