Staff Overview

Sandy is the Field Group Chair for Finance at Cardiff School of Management and has taught various modules in finance, economics, business, and management in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Prior to joining Cardiff School of Management, she was a Senior Lecturer at Oxford Brookes Business School. She obtained her PhD in Economics at the University of Strathclyde where she was awarded a full scholarship (Postgraduate Research Scholarship Award, Overseas Research Scholarship Award, and International Research Scholarship Award) to support her research. Sandy is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education from Oxford Brookes University. She is also the Managing Editor of International Journal of Management, Economics and Social Sciences; and an Associate Editor of Humanities and Social Sciences Communications published by Palgrave Macmillan.

Teaching

​Sandy has designed, developed and delivered (as Module Leader), a number of new modules for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes including International Finance and Financial Modelling. She has supervised or acted as Director of Studies for seven PhD students to successful completion and been an examiner for various MPhil and PhD viva.

​Sandy’s current research interests focus on financial economics, development economics, international finance and applied econometrics.​​
