Underpinned by world-leading research and delivered by research-active staff and professional practitioners, our degrees offer links with sport’s national governing bodies and industry partners. This means you will develop your knowledge and skills; have many opportunities to gain practical experience and use cutting-edge equipment and facilities, in preparation for your chosen career.

Our Open Campus initiative enables you to work directly with young people delivering sport opportunities, meaning you will acquire invaluable, hands-on and practical experience.

There are also many opportunities to develop professional skills working with our elite athletes and teams. In addition to this, you will also have opportunities to undertake work where you will apply your theoretical knowledge.

As a University we’re routed in our community, we pride ourselves on being inclusive and welcoming. Sport brings people together, and here at Cardiff Met, we harness the power of sport to support, encourage and engage our students, staff and the wider community.

“Thanks to the Open Campus initiative I have been able to gain practical experience as part of my lectures and prepare myself for my chosen career. The initiative has provided me with pedagogical skills which I can take and apply when I go to my primary school for placement. For example, I have learnt about different ways in which the learner can be challenged, such as asking questions to assess understanding and providing them with opportunities to make decisions for themselves. One thing I have learnt from studying at Cardiff Met is how important practical experiences are, not only for being able to apply theoretical knowledge but to also boost your confidence and give you experiences that you could never get in the classroom alone!”

“From finance to sports events and marketing, the Sport Management degree covers a range of topics and gives you the chance to tailor your degree based on your desired career path. Thanks to my degree I was able to create Sportfolio, a platform linking student-athletes with the next step in their sporting career. I am very much at the beginning of my journey, and I have big plans for the next few years, but I am grateful for the foundations and support that both the Sport Management degree and Cardiff Met gave me.”

“I am enjoying studying Sport and Exercise Science (SES) at Cardiff Met because of how broad the course is and it lends itself to my future career aspirations. Psychology, Biomechanics and Physiology are the three disciplines that underpin SES, enabling us as students to develop our understanding and knowledge in a variety of topic areas. Having an ongoing interest in sport, this course has allowed me to expand my knowledge and passion for working within this industry in the future. The course itself is very interactive, from online content to feedback forms, the lecturers are all keen to develop a trusting relationship with each and every student, making it feel like you’re all in this degree together.”
