Reaching Wider

Reaching Wider is a partnership of universities schools and colleges in Wales that aims to widening access to all forms of higher education.

This national programme, funded by Medr, Commission for Tertiary Education and Research, aims to increase aims to increase higher education participation from under-represented groups by raising educational aspirations and skills, and creating innovative study opportunities and learning pathways programmes to higher education pathways.

The Reaching Wider partnership includes all higher education institutions including Cardiff Metropolitan University, we have a Reaching Wider team based on campus. Working with ourselves, the team also work with schools, local authorities, employers and third sector organisations to improve educational outcomes of learners. Delivering fully funded free programmes, in a range of school community and higher education settings to a range of audiences.

Learner audiences include adults, young people in schools and carers and care experienced young people. Within the bottom two quintiles of the Welsh Index of Multiple Deprivation WIMD, people with disabilities, people from the UK ethnic global majority backgrounds and Welsh medium learning, including supporting second language and Welsh culture.
