As Cardiff School of Art and Design takes up its new residence at the Llandaff Campus, I start my new role as Receptionist and Operations Assistant for the school. I’ll be here as the ‘front line’ or initial point of contact providing information to staff and students alike. Please feel free to come and say hello.

Biography

I grew up in the Sea Side town of Barry before running very, very far way to Cardiff to complete a degree in Journalism, Film and Media at Cardiff University; following in the footsteps of masses of students before me I remained living in Cardiff for a further seven years after my student days were through. The majority of this time I worked for Governor Services within the Education Department of Cardiff Council where I provided advice, support and guidance to school governors across Cardiff as well as carrying out administration for a variety of free training sessions available to governors. In this time I went through numerous different hair colour changes and became a bit of an expert at Canon photocopiers and a retro looking Education Management System database.

Within the last year I moved back to Barry Island where I spend much of my time on the beach with my Border Collie, Ezio. I also like to dabble in photography and painting in my spare time, using the coast and fairground/ arcades for much of my recent inspiration. I love music, from acoustic and indie to punk and metal but I especially love live music, and can often be found at local gigs and enjoy helping to promote the local music scene. I am also involved in the 2nd largest bowling league in the UK called Punk Rock Bowling which has 80+ members and meets every other Sunday; I must add that this does not mean that I am in any way good at bowling – but seem to be good at encouraging others to be brilliant and win games despite my input!
