Role in the School
Finance and Resources Officer
I work in the Office of the Dean, supporting the School Resources and Finance Manager by gathering management information for the school.
Our shared Staffing Issues mailbox is the place to send forms relating to leave and other staff absence recording, staff P and DR forms, timesheets for casual staff pay, applying and recording of completion of Staff Development after liaising with your line manager.
Our shared school Office mailbox is the route for staff to get school approval for financial activities that will lead to central finance action. It is used to capture an audit track for request and approval for purchases outside of the online system, staff expenses, invoicing and cancellations of invoices, financial approval from budget holders by email should be sent here.
I am the first point of call for staff with enquiries about processes and policies in university Finance and HR matters.
Having run away to Norwich to complete my degree in History of Art and Architecture, I returned to Cardiff as a poor graduate and accidently started a 17 year long career in the Transport arm of the UK Civil Service.
This took me all over the UK working in operational customer focused work at all levels. I’ve managed a large call centre and small specialist groups, and have been a part of delivering varied services to the public.
Besides becoming encyclopaedic on the organisation after all those years I have never had an interest in the Transport sector, never sitting a driving test. I therefore eagerly took voluntary redundancy a few years ago to come and work in a place like this where I could become more knowledgeable about topics that really interest me.
Activities and interests: In recent years I been on the administrative team behind the ‘madeinroath‘ October and Spring festivals.
Oh and sometimes I make cake.
